Activity ralted to the exhibition THROUGTH THE LOOKING GLASS. Organized in collaboration of Universitat de Vic. Open activity
Location: Sala Mercè Torrents, Edifici C. Campus Miramarges de la Universitat de Vic
The exhibition Through the Looking Glass by Joan Fontcuberta gathers two works in which the artist uses resources offered by the internet . Titled Googlegrams and Reflectograms, these works propose to reflect on the importance and increasing use of images, the proliferation of artists, as well as the potential for broadcast and viral dispersion, all of which are growing exponentially with the use of social networks.

Maria Zambrano (Velez Malaga, 1904 - Madrid, 1991) was, without doubt, one of the great voices of twentieth century European thought. Her broad and diverse range, expressed in fragmentary essays rather than systematic analysis, is embodied in writing which stands closer to artistic creation than the conceptual world. Zambrano's thought wove a new philosophy with the thread of poetic reason. A voice (philosophical? poetic?)like none other, either philosophical or poetic.
Her life and work were deeply crossed by the exile, which lasted forty-five years. "I love my exile " she wrote. And it was precisely during this period when she wrote her work: the shadow of which travels the world, and the margins of the world. Thinking of exile is thinking exile.
If, as TS Eliot said, "I question whether any serious civil war ever does end." it is now more than ever relevant to read Zambrano's words because they represent a different viewpoint and a possible Spain.
CATALYSTS. ART, EDUCATION, TERRITORY
Activities 28/29.01.2011 at Arts Santa Mònica. La Rambla,7 08002 Barcelona.
CATALYSTS. Art, education, territory is an exhibition showcasing art projects and participatory processes which are grounded in a direct relationship with a particular local context. Each of this set of proposals comprises three essential components, which combine with and relate to one another with varying degrees of interaction: they are artistic practices, they foment educational activities, and they take place in a specific spatial and temporal territory or context, while embodying a critical reflection on politics and society.

The curational team comprising teachers, cultural managers and artists has selected nine among more than eighty project applications.. This year's edition has the collaboration of ACVic, incorporating Thambos 9 into the programme Viver de projectes (Nursery Projects).
Thambos 9 displays nine works using traditional artistic techniques as well as new technologies or civic participation processes. Four of the projects are the result of a work in progress started when the selection verdict was made public and, the five remaining works, are audiovisual or object-based. The artistic projects to be exhibited raise several questions about current society, reflecting upon artistic practice itself, construction of identity and gender, religions, public space, immigration, communication, among other.

THE BAROQUE D_EFECT. Politics of the Hispanic Image
Seminar taught by Jorge Luis Marzo
Dates and Venue
14th, 15th and 16th of june, from 18.00 to 21.00 hours
ACVic Centre d'Arts Contemporànies
C. Sant Francesc, 1 08500 Vic
The seminar has as its starting point the exhibition curated by Jorge Luis Marzo and Teresa Badia, "The Baroque d_efect," shown at the CCCB November 2010 to February 2011.
Through the archive of documents prepared for the exhibition, this seminar aims to analyze the myth of Hispanicity, i.e. "Spanishness", as a common and homogeneous framework between Spain and Latin America, and how artistic and cultural strategies have helped to create over time a homogenising official story, the Hispanic myth, for the durability of which artists must bear a great deal of responsibility. The seminar provides research tools which bring added value to any lines of discussion, with a constant input of viewpoints and parallel experiences .
- To analyse the relationship between the Hispanic myth and its main survival strategy: the Baroque as a model of cultural policy.
- To reflect on the relationship between art and cultural policies.
- Reflection, participation and dissemination

PRESENTATION OF THE PUBLICATION El Relat del Art |QUAM 2009
Wednesday, June 30th 2010 at 7pm in Sala d’Actes of Art Santa Mònica (La Rambla, 7), the publication QUAM 2009 El Relat de l'Art will be presented by
Andrés Hispano; Félix Pérez-Hita, artistic directors of the publication and Ramon Parramon, director of ACVic. Centre d’Arts Contemporànies. The book is
published by ACVic and Eumo Editorial.
The book brings together the ideas introduced by Andrés Hispano and Félix Pérez-Hita as artistic directors of the last edition QUAM 2009.
QUAM is a visual arts summer university, that has counted with the participation of artists and prestigious professionals since 1998. Last edition, the central theme consisted in analysing the current art scene since the use of audiovisuals, the mediatisation of the art works and its repercussion in the audiences. In this sense, the workshop aimed to open new strategies in a space full of archetypes, doubts and overvalued provocations. Weaving audiovisuals such as fiction,
documentary, television or cinema with artistic practices, permit some initiatives to approach a more diverse and complex artistic scene as well as more in accordance with contemporary cultural context.
The book contains texts by Andrés Hispano, Félix Pérez-Hita, Anna Moreno,Jorge Luis Marzo, Núria Aidelman / Gonzalo de Lucas, Manuel Barrios, Isaki Lacuesta, Lulú Martorell, Marcel Pié Barba and Carles Guerra.
And projects by Laia Solé / Tanit Plana, Jordi Lafon, Toni Ferron / Juan Carlos Moreno, Montsita Rierola/ La Saleta / Ilaria Mauro, Anna Moreno / Joanot Cortés and Jordi Daví / Joanot Cortés.

Abstract:: As children Enric Canadell, theoretical chemist, and Àlex Nogué, visual artist, shared table top and street games in Castellfollit de la Roca, a village in the Garrotxa, Girona. Their lives have followed very different paths, and both have had wide international professional experience in science and arts. Forty-five years later they met again in the project "Instead of the revolution, conversations" promoted by Cafe Central and the Association for the Contemporary Arts H.ACC in order to seek similarities in their apparently disparate professional activities and experiences. Once art practice has overcome merely aesthetic approaches, become a main producer and broadcaster of knowledge. Nowadays beyond the use of advanced technologies, and far from big corporative and economic structures, innovative, adaptable and low-cost organisational models have appeared. This is the strength of the cultural and social capital from contemporary society, networked in order to exchanging knowledge.
From March 27th to May 30 2010. Exhibition produced by Bòlit. Centre d'Art Contemporani, Ajuntament de Girona and Generalitat de Catalunya. Departament de Cultura i Mitjans de Comunicació.

"The place is fascinating, transports you to the past. The experience is very real, the place is very real, but it evokes a bygone world. This is also virtual reality, although it is not easy to distinguish." Carlos Arroyo
Time passes and makes it inevitable and necessary to intervene in our heritage of construction, with actions that lead buildings of the past, reluctantly, to modernity.
How to make this intervention? what are the reasons to do so? How should those few unused buildings be integrated into modernity ? How might this be formalised?
There are many groups, from property owners, to heritage preservation societies , to the tanners Association, and so on... , with an interest in the heritage represented by Vic tanneries. The College of Architects and ACVIC. Contemporary Arts Centre wish to encourage debate to supply an answer to these questions, from the subjectivity and laterality of a strictly architectural and artistic view.
Several distinguished architects give their opinions, aiming to enrich the debate and promote the interests of architecture of future interventions

MORE STORE / TALLAS (MORE STORE/SIZES) is an art project that combines installation, photography and video, displayed in a simulated shop environment where the bodies of more than forty women of different origins, ages and sizes are exhibited in the shape of suits.
MORE STORE / TALLAS encourages reflection on the value of the body, which depends on arbitrary factors such as “MADE IN” (country of origin) and beauty; it proposes to experience the confusion/understanding that results from wearing someone else’s skin, and makes use of irony in its consideration on the value of individuals according to market parameters.
Territoris de fricció (“Friction Territories”)
From 4 December 2009 to 17 January 2010.
Curator of the exhibition: Miquel Bardagil
A look from the collection of contemporary art of the Museu d’Art Jaume Morera de Lleida. Valeriano López | Francesc Ruiz | Pauline Fondevila | Javier Peñafiel | Karmelo Bermejo | Dionís Escorsa | La Ribot | Iñaki Àlvarez | Daniel García Andújar | Alícia Framis
Frictions are, rather than a cause, a symptom indicating that certain contradictions exist in a particular area. To consider their existence means to consider the management of relationships with others and our environment, and, consequently, to adopt a critical point of view in a social context. The individual and the society take shape from a particular map of the frictions generated, from a map whose limits are set by divisions and intersections. Giving up critical thought and reflection opens the door to alienation, understood as the failure to comprehend the complexity of the modern world –immersed in the phenomenon of the so-called globalisation. Paradoxically, the society of information is characterised by opacity, which contrasts with its apparent transparency. Excess of information, banality and the control exerted by the economic and political authorities make it difficult for the public to see the contradictions and malfunctions arisen from those relationships.
Within the framework of the complexity of the modern world, Territoris de fricció suggests a reflection on the dynamics involved in social transformations, in both the individual and the collective sphere, and their accompanying processes of opposition, analysis, critical attitude or resistance. Thus, family roles, the individual, the construction of an identity, the influence of social majorities, activism related to the use of public space, the human body, control over information technologies, manipulation of the immigration phenomenon, the social role of leisure and gender-based violence constitute some of this “Friction Territories”. .
Jornada Vic Espai Públic (Vic Public Space)
Friday, 13 November 2009
Directed by Ferran Blancafort & Meritxell Inaraja
This project is part of the programme ARTWORK’09, promoted by the Diputació de Barcelona. In accordance with the Order of the Catalan government Ordre TRE/337/2008, it has been funded by the programme Projectes Innovadors (Innovative Projects), and has been sponsored by the Servei d’Ocupació de Catalunya and co-financed by the European Social Fund. Action and intervention in public space and their practical goals are subjects of interest to youth associations . These subjects are also studied and analysed by today's contemporary arts and in which city councils, public agencies and institutions place most emphasis in various public spheres such as town-planning, aesthetics and in the social and cultural areas.
Considering these facts and subjects of interest, the programme has been devised to foster, through the work of several arts and architecture professionals, a platform for debate and the application of these disciplines to an urban reality.
The projects, which are sensitive to the issues of interest to the present-day arts, will provide an insight into two aspects: we will display several examples of interventions that affect material objects and the space of the biological body; but we will also display more symbolic interventions that may just be experiences without an apparent materialisation – although they are equally sensitive with regard to those free-flowing, ephemeral spaces, whose only traces are graphical references, usually available in the Net.

EL RELAT DE L’ART (“THE NARRATION OF ART”)
From 4 July to 10 July 2009
Director: Andrés Hispano
Contemporary art is currently in a strange situation. It has never been more accessible than now and its presence in the media has never been so prominent. Nevertheless, due to the clichés and archetypes that characterise it today, its activities are questioned as they are considered to be eccentric and based on overvalued provocations. But, bearing in mind that contemporary art requires the observer to have little prejudice and to make some specific efforts, we cannot say there is a lack of creators and initiatives that can make the audience understand the reasons and processes that currently define artistic activities.
The audiovisual medium has proven, more than any other category, its capability to broadcast not only what takes place in the arts but also whatever is part of their complex creative and commercial nature.
“The Narration of Art” is about the way the arts have been considered from an audiovisual point of view, as well about artistic production and its influence on the audience. But, above all, it opens up the possibility of finding new strategies in this field. For this purpose, we have gathered contributions from critics and audiovisual producers who work in this field, and cinema and television works are shown as references with which to spur initiatives that can deal with today’s arts scene – more complex and diverse than ever.
Fes com si...( Pretend you're...)
Exhibition curated by Anna Palomo
FRom 17th April to 7th June2009
The exhibition Fes com si..., is linked to the day for ART I JOC (Art and play) organised by the department of Educació Infantil de la Facultat d'Educació de la Universitat de Vic and ACVIC. A group of artists reflect upon the role of play in artistic practice: play as content or as resource. Montserrat Cortadellas, Marta Gràcia, Mia Guiteras, Enric Pladevall, Montsita Rierola, Tere Recarens, Kenneth Russo and David Ymbernon use in their work concepts linked to subjects such as: pretending, universal need, the space of freedom, intellectual options, etc. through different artistic languages, traditional or linked to new technologies, since all of them serve to demonstrate the rules that govern the world and, also, creativity..
